Valentine’s Disco 13.2.25

Everyone has been looking forward to our Valentine’s Disco which is one of the highlights of the club programme. As always, the hall was beautifully decorated and the food, music and lights expertly prepared. All the members had a great night listening and dancing to the music from our resident DJs Jacob and Matthew. A massive thank you to Club Leader Sarah for the work that went into preparing everything for the evening. Also a thank you to all the staff, volunteers, parents and carers who contribute so much to all our club activities.

Matthew arrived early to set up all the lights. He always tests them very carefully to make sure they are just right.

The tables were beautifully decorated and the teddies were raffled at the end of the evening.

A huge thank you goes to goes to Matthew and Jacob for working all night to provide the fabulous music and lights for everyone to dance or listen to. A special thanks to Sean too for all his support in setting up the music.

It was lovely to dress up for a fun evening of dancing.

Club members enjoyed choosing their food from the great choice served by amazing volunteers.

A great big thank you to Julie C for preparing an amazing raffle to raise funds for club.

Everyone was very pleased to choose their prizes.

The night continued with lots more great dancing.

….and finally Tony, who loves craft activities, made the perfect Valentine’s heart.

With 40 members attending, everyone agreed it was a fantastic evening and we were especially pleased to welcome another new member.

Making Valentine’s Cards 6.2.25

We were very lucky that Esther and Geraldine came to club last night to work with us to make Valentine’s cards. They brought lots of lovely resources for us to choose from. Esther had even made small heart shaped biscuits to put in the cards. Thank you for a lovely evening of card making, we very much appreciate your support.

We all enjoyed choosing different items to put on our cards.

Christmas Disco 19.12.24

Thirty one members, lots of volunteers, staff, parents and carers attended our Christmas Disco. Everyone had a fantastic time dancing to music and lights by our amazing resident DJs Matthew and Jacob. They certainly know how to get people on the dance floor with great music and lights! A huge thank you to The Groome Trust for their donation for this event, it was a really special, fun evening.

Volunteers Lisa and Sandra and Club Leader Sarah made sure the buffet was beautifully prepared.

Everyone enjoyed spending time with friends.

Thank you to all the volunteers for serving the very tasty food.

It’s great to chat with friends and enjoy the lovely buffet.

Everyone was very happy to see Father Christmas arrive with a sack full of presents!

All the club members were very pleased to receive their gifts.

Matthew and Jacob kept the music and lights going for the rest of the night and the dance floor was full for the entire evening. It was a fabulous disco, a huge thank you to everyone for making it such an enjoyable event. We’re all looking forward to more exciting club nights in 2025!

Rod’s Leaving Celebration 12.12.24

On Thursday 12th December we held a very special event to say Goodbye to Rod a volunteer and committee member at club. Rod has volunteered at New Forest Mencap and Gateway Clubs for 38 years. This is absolutely amazing and we wanted to mark the occasion with a special evening and some special gifts. We were absolutely delighted that Rod’s wife Sandy was able to come to join the celebrations.

Club members made sure there were special seats for Rod and Sandy.

Everyone was really interested to hear about all the different roles Rod has done. He has been Fundraiser, Trustee, Club Chair, Committee member and of course an absolute legend with Woodwork activities. Thank you Rod.

Corky delivered the bird box very carefully.

Next came a cake decorated by member Caitlin.

Sarah had made an absolutely amazing cake.

Everyone loved the woodwork tools as decoration.

Lots of members came to say a special goodbye to Rod and Sandy.

It was a lovely evening and absolutely everyone at club says a massive thank you to Rod for his time and generosity. We really hope you will call in to see us sometimes.

Christmas Crafts December 24

Everyone has enjoyed trying different Christmas Crafts. There has been such a range to choose from including decorating cakes and making wreaths and decorations. We were also very lucky that Esther and Geraldine came to club to make wonderful Christmas Cards. Thank you, we really enjoyed your visit.

Creature Teachers 7.11.24

We were very happy to welcome Creature Teachers to club this week. They brought a variety of creatures along and explained to us how some of them come from rescue centres. Club members asked lots of questions and it was great to learn about how they live. We were taught how to hold or touch the animals and how it was very important not to touch some too. A massive thank you for a fun and informative evening.

I was really excited to learn how to hold the snake.

The centipedes were fascinating to watch and hold.

We worked as a group to make sure the rat made it to it’s box.

I learnt the owl was very young and I needed to be very still for it to land.

I was pleased when the owl landed on the glove.

Halloween 2024

Our Halloween events this year included a fabulous Halloween Fancy Dress Disco and we also used our artistic skills during our Halloween Crafts Evening. Huge thank you to Club Leader Sarah for all the hard work that went into organising the different evenings.

Woodwork 19.9.24

Everyone is always pleased to try the different woodwork activities and the woodwork table is always very busy with members making items to take home. Thank you to Rod and Howard for all your hard work.

Lots of concentration needed to use the drill. Volunteer Rod prepares all the materials for Woodwork.

I’m really happy with the colours I chose.

I need to sand this down very carefully.

Welcome Back, September 2024

Everyone is always pleased to be back at club and meet up with old friends. We’ve been really happy this year to welcome lots of new members too. In the first few weeks it’s great to try all our favourite activities and have time to chat and catch up on what everyone’s been up to over the summer.

It’s great to catch up for a chat at the snack bar.

A cup of tea and doing some art work is very relaxing!

Colouring is always a favourite activity, it’s great to have the chance to chat too.

Lots of concentration needed to complete the jigsaws.

Assistant Club Leader Debbie has had a really busy first few weeks making sure everyone’s details are up to date and the registers are completed. Club member, Tim, is great at giving a hand.

Quiz 2024 7.9.24

Brock GatewayClub Night, Miscellaneous, Quiz Night.9th September 20240

On Saturday 7th September 2024, Brockenhurst Gateway Club held a very popular Quiz. This was very kindly hosted by Everton and Lymore Social Club. It was a great night with nine teams competing and trying to answer as many questions as possible. There was also a raffle for a Luxury Hamper and many other prizes too. A massive thank you to Vanessa and everyone at Everton and Lymore Social Club for supporting this event. A huge thank you too, to Julie C for all the organisation that went into the evening. With the quiz and raffle combined we raised an amazing total of £508.50!

Another huge thank goes to you to Assistant Club Leader, Ryan for preparing the questions and taking on the role of Quiz Master on the evening. Also to Assistant Club Leader, Debbie for keeping the scores and making sure all the answers were collected in.
