Woodworking – Planters 2013

At Brockenhurst Gateway we have started doing wood work projects.  We have started off the year making our own planters and putting some plants into them.  The members really enjoyed making them and a lot of the members gave them away as gifts.  The next wood work project is making clocks which should be fun.

Vehicle Evening 2012

On Tuesday 18th September a good time was had by all on the vehicle evening.  We had a variety of vehicles for our members to look at, sit in and get their photographs taken.  We had a police car, motorhome, an old 1937 morris 8, vintage zephyr and capri, a wolsley and a 3 litre princess.  We had a variety of scooters and big motorbikes including a BMW 1200 enduro and a trike.  Also Cycle experience brought along a selection of mobility bikes which we all had good fun on.  The weather stayed dry but got a little chilly which no one seemed to notice.

Many thanks go to Cycle experience and the Lymington motorcycle and light car club who supported the evening along with other individuals.  Please see the photographs and the amount of fun we had.

Brockenhurst Carnival 2012

This was my first carnival with Brockenhurst Gateway as leader.  It was well supported and the weather stayed fine.  Our theme was Best of British – Red, White and Blue.  People dressed as sports people, the Queen, spice girls, bankers and many more.  It was a lovely fun day and to top it all we won the big Brock and Bruin carnival cup. I am looking forward to next year already.

Chris Hendon Cup 2012

The club chairman Mike Snell awarded the Chris Hendon Cup to Ruth Horton at one of our many discos.  She is a popular member of the group who is always willing to help others.  Ruth has had to cope with her own difficulties early in the year but kept a brave face throughout.  She attends regularly and has offered to do a presentation of her own to the club about her visit to New York which we are looking forward to.  Well done Ruth.  Mike gave out two certificates to Kelly Tizzard and Debbie Grimes.  It was a hard choice.  Well done to you all.

Strawberry Picking 2012

On July 17th 2012 Brockenhurst  Gateway organised strawberry picking with a BBQ and music at the Cat and fiddle PYO.  We invited New Forest Gateway to join us.  The weather stayed dry and we had an excellent turn out.  We couldn’t keep up with the demand of the beefburgers and sausages therefore several trips had to be made to the nearby supermarket for more supplies.  The music was a huge success while we ate our food.  Many thanks need to go to Mark French who organised the event but special thanks to Sopley Farm for allowing us to do it.

Sponsored Walk 2012

On June 19th 2012 Brockenhurst Gateway met up with New Forest Gateway for a sponsored walk to raise money for our clubs.  A forest ranger met up with us on route while we had our picnic and talked about the wild life found in the New Forest.  It was very interesting seeing the snake skins and furs.  A good time was had by all whilst raising money.  Well done to everyone.

Keyhaven Yacht Club 2012

On the 29th May 2012 the weather was lovely and sunny for our evening sailing at Keyhaven yacht club. Amidst all this rain we have had recently we were very lucky.  We had an excellent time and a lovely BBQ at the end.  Many thanks to David and Wendy Pawley.

Paultons Park 2012

On Sunday 13th May a good turnout from Brockenhurst Gateway went along to the annual event organised by the Lions club to Paultons Park.  It was an excellent day. The weather stayed fine and we had a good look around the birds and had lots of time on the rides.

Punch & Judy 2012

On Tuesday 17th April Brockenhurst Gateway invited Mervyn Cole to come along and bring his friends with him.  He came along and brought Punch, Judy and friends.  Mervyn and his firiends were very entertaining and we all enjoyed ourselves so much so that Mervyn is going to come along to our Christmas party on December 11th to do some magic for us. I wonder if his friends will come as well!!

Chris Hendon Cup 2011

We said a big ‘Thank You’, to Mike Clarke, who has been our Club Chairman for the last three years.

Club volunteer, Andrew, presented Jessica with the Chris Hendon Cup, and Emma, Paula, Amy and Christian with Chris Hendon certificates.
